There are songs for seasons and songs for moods. Something like this tastes of summer. Something like this is for the cold. This is fury. This is solitude.
No Joy‘s ‘Maggie Says I Love You’ is everything.
It’s bare toes and outstretched arms in summer, it’s a glimpse of the sun in winter, it’s the rationale that overcomes fury, it is the quiet company you seek in solitude.

Wow! How is it that I have not yet heard of this band? I am downloading the album “Ghost Blonde” from iTunes as I type this, and I am practically drooling as I listen to “Pacific Pride” for the first time. The sound is like a slightly happier version of the Jesus and Mary Chain, and it’s pretty phenomenal. Those echoing distant vocals are melting me. “Maggie Says I Love You” is also a very, very strong song.
The songs for seasons and moods listed above are also very apt; and I will never, ever tire of “Fragile.” Until The Fauns release their next album, it’s always so nice to have such unexpected surprises such as this.
Really nice stuff here!
I don’t know how you’ve never heard of this band – I know I have a bad habit of rediscovering albums years after their release. The fact that I’m waking up to this now, despite hearing (but clearly not listening to) it at the time of its release, is already an achievement.
